Have you ever received an email alert alarming you that your GCash account will be deactivated soon? An email claiming that you must take action by clicking a link in the message or pressing a button for a verification? THINK TWICE before you click. It could be a SCAM ALERT or PHISHING EMAIL you received sent by a fake GCash email address.
Phishing is the fraudulent attempt to obtain sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by disguising oneself as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. Typically carried out by email spoofing or instant messaging, it often directs users to enter personal information on a fake website which matches the look and feel of the legitimate site.

If you read the message, you will notice the word Check transaction. Never click or tap this as if will be directed to a fake website that can get your personal information and be used to hack your GCash account.
Just ignore or delete this type of email to avoid being hacked.
SCAM #2. In this fake GCash email, if you read the subject, it says that your account has been reported. Do not panic and read the message, but do not click any button or link.
A fund transfer has been made. But it is a fake transaction and only lets you click the link. Be careful with this type of email. To verify this type of transaction, go to your GCash app and view the transaction history under the Activity tab (from the bottom menu). If you accounted for all the listed transactions, you don’t have to worry. Ignore or just delete the email you received.

This link or button, as in this email, the Verify Now/Verify My Account button, may be directed to a fake website that may obtain your personal information and be used to hack your GCash account.
To further check the email, if you tap who the email came from, you will see the fake email address. Because the legit GCash email address is [email protected].
SCAM #4. One more phishing email: Your account is at risk.
You will panic reading this and the first thing you will do is click the Secure My Account link. Don’t do that. Stay calm and check out the GCash app first. If you have access to your GCash account and your funds are still in tact, then, there is nothing wrong with your GCash account. And to check for any suspected transaction, go to transaction history under the Activity tab.
