How to fund your GCash for free

Most online fund transfers today have a transaction fee, but there are still some ways to cash-in to your GCash e-wallet for free. GCash linked accounts and some digital banks still offer free transfer to GCash.

In this guide, it will show which accounts you can link to your GCash account for easy and free cash-ins. You can also check the list of digital banks with free GCash transfers. And other banks and e-wallets that offer top-up to your GCash but with an added convenience fee will also be shared here.

GCash Linked Accounts

On the main dashboard of your GCash app, tap the Cash-in button and select Linked Accounts. It will then show the list of account that you can link to your GCash account. Here is the list:

  • GCash Card – you can link up to 3 GCash card, you can link your GCash Mastercard and Virtual cards.
  • American Express Virtual Pay – currently unavailable
  • PayPal
  • Payooner
  • GCredit
  • BPI 
  • Metrobank – currently unavailable
  • UnionBank
  • GlobeOne

From the above list, there are two banks that are currently available to be linked: BPI and UnionBank. If you have account from these two banks, you can link it to GCash. But, take note that you must have an online access to these accounts as it is required to login to complete the linkage.

BPI-Linked Account

UnionBank-Linked Account

And for those with Union Bank accounts, follow the steps below to successfully link your account. Take note that if you do not link your Union Bank account and use the Union Bank mobile app, there is an additional fee of P10 per transaction.

And after your first successful cash-in with the linked accounts, for the succeeding transaction, you are not required to login to your Unionbank account but OTP is still needed for security purposes.

BPI Mobile Banking app

If you do not want to link your BPI, you can still transfer to your GCash account using the BPI Mobile Banking app. 

  1. On the main dashboard of your BPI app, tap the left menu and select Load E-Wallet under Payments/Load.
  2. Enter the required details to transfer money to your GCash or any GCash account:
    1. Source Account. Select your BPI Account
    2. E-Wallet: Select GCash from the list
    3. Reference Number: Enter the GCash account number or mobile number
    4. Load Amount; Input the amount you want to transfer
  3. Review details and confirm the transaction.
  4. Enter your BPI 6-digit PIN Code.
  5. The transaction is successful and will display the details of the fund transfer.

Digital Banks

CIMB

If you have a CIMB account, you can also transfer to GCash for free via the app. Go to fund transfer, select GCash and enter the required details to complete the transfer.

You can also link you GSave account to CIMB for easy transfer to and from GCash. If you do not have a GSave account yet, it is a savings account that you can find in GCash app which is powered by CIMB. Once you have activated your GSave, you can link this to your CIMB app. Then, it will be easier now to transfer to your CIMB account to GCash via GSave.

To apply for a GSave account, on the main dashboard of GCash, taps GSave icon. A list of partner banks will be displayed. Select GSave by CIMB and complete the details needed to open an account.

2. GCash - GSave

Once you got a GSave account, you can link it to CIMB app. Just click the Link my GSave or GCredit account below the login button and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the linkage.

Seabank

SeaBank, offered by SeaBank Philippines, Inc. (A Rural Bank) is a mobile banking application that enables you to manage your finances seamlessly on your mobile phone, anytime and anywhere. You can send and receive transactions from both SeaBank and non-SeaBank users, all while earning competitive interest rates with no additional fees and no minimum balance. (Source)

To transfer money to GCash from your SeaBank account via InstaPay, on the main dashboard of the app, select Pay/Transfer button, then select E-Wallet and choose GCash. Enter the GCash account number or mobile number, account name and amount to be transferred. Confirm the transaction and enter your password to complete the transfer. As you can see in below screenshot, transfer fee is FREE.

Tonik

Tonik is officially the Philippines’ first neobank to secure a digital bank license from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). (Source)

It offers customers a higher interest rate same as SeaBank. You can apply and access your account through the Tonik app.

To send money from your Tonik account to your GCash or any GCash account, tap the Send button on the main dashboard and select InstaPay as a payment option. The transfer fee is zero, means it’s FREE. Enter the GCash details and confirm the transaction to complete the process.

ShopeePay

Same with SeaBank and Tonik, ShopeePay via the Shopee app also offers free transfer to GCash.

If you do not have the above accounts, here are the list of online banks, digital banks, and e-wallets that you can do transfer via InstaPay with an additional fee.

Send money from GCash

 And, if you want to transfer or send money from your GCash account to other e-wallets, online bank and digital bank via InstaPay, there is a convenience fee of P15 per transaction. In your GCash app, tap Send icon on the main dashboard and select Transfer to send money to other e-wallets and online/digital banks.
